Replacing the brake
If you would like to talk with someone

When a brake becomes worn, it should
be replaced with a new brake.
Removing the wheel
1. Remove the ignition
key from the switch to avoid injury
to you or damage to your Pukka.
2. Loosen the tensioning bolt to
allow the motor to pivot toward the
tire.
3. Remove the chain from the rear
sprocket.
4. Remove the chain from the front
sprocket and move it out of the way.
5. Pull enough of the brake cable
through the lugs to allow the tire
to be removed.
6. Loosen the nut that holds the
brake housing to the frame. This will
rotate down and out of the notch as
you slide the tire out of the axle
slots of the swing arm.
7. Loosen the axle nuts and slide
the tire out of the axle slots..
Replacing the brake assembly
1. Remove the axle nut and washers
from the brake side of the rear wheel.
Slide the brake off the axle. The
brake has a special bolt with a hole
through the shaft for the brake cable
to slide through. When tightened,
this bolt holds the brake cable to
the brake. To remove the old brake
assembly, loosen the nut on the bolt
that holds the brake cable to the
brake.
2. Slide the brake cable into the
hole of the bolt on the new brake
and tighten the nut enough to hold
the brake to the cable. You will adjust
the brake after the rear wheel is
mounted.
Mounting the wheel assembly
1. Slide the washer and the smaller
spacer onto the axle followed by the
brake . Place two washers on the axle
and an axle nut. Your axle should
look like the picture below.
2. Insert the axle into the center
hole of the brake drum side of the
wheel assembly. On the sprocket side,
place the smaller spacer, a washer,
and an axle nut.
3. The axle slot on the brake side
should slide between the two washers
on the brake side of the wheel.
4. The axle slot on the sprocket
side should slide between the spacer
and the washer on the sprocket side
of the wheel.
5. Slide the bolt of the brake housing
into the slot of the swing arm and
push the entire assembly forward into
the slots. Tighten the axle nuts and
the nut on the brake bolt.
6. Replace the chain on the front
sprocket.
7. Replace the chain on the rear
sprocket and turn the wheel to roll
the chain around the sprocket.
8. Turn the tensioning bolt to adjust the chain.
